Wisdom Tooth Extraction In Navi Mumbai

Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the last teeth to emerge in the mouth, usually appearing in the late teenage years or early twenties. They can be a source of anxiety and discomfort for many people.

Wisdom teeth that are impacted or unable to emerge fully can cause agony, infection, and damage to adjacent teeth. These back teeth can cause crowding and severe pain as they try to emerge from the gums, and sometimes they need to be removed to maintain good oral health.

The wisdom tooth extraction process can be intimidating and emotional, especially if you are unsure of what to expect.

“However, it is important to remember that wisdom tooth extraction is a common and routine procedure performed to improve overall oral health and alleviate pain,” says ‌Dr. Parth Shah. “And at our clinic, we strive to make your experience as comfortable and painless as possible.”

‌Dr. Parth Shah is a brilliant dental surgeon and one of the founders of Casa Dentique, a state-of-the-art multispecialty dental clinic in Navi Mumbai.

Wisdom teeth extraction – When is it required?

Wisdom teeth extraction may be required for a number of reasons. Some common indications for wisdom tooth extraction include:

Impaction: Wisdom teeth that cannot fully emerge from the gums due to lack of space in the mouth are considered impacted.

Crowding: If there is not enough space in the mouth for wisdom teeth to emerge properly, they may come in at an angle or push against other teeth, causing crowding and misalignment.

Decay: Wisdom teeth that are partially erupted or impacted are challenging to clean, increasing the risk of decay and gum disease.

Cysts: Cysts, or fluid-filled sacs, can form around impacted wisdom teeth, causing damage to the surrounding bone and teeth.

Infection: Impacted wisdom teeth can cause pain, damage, and infection to adjacent teeth, the gums, and surrounding bone.

‌If you suspect you may have any of the above-mentioned teeth conditions, please speak with Dr. Parth Shah, a renowned oral and maxillofacial surgeon in Navi Mumbai. He will evaluate your specific situation and determine if extraction is necessary.

Preparing for wisdom teeth surgery

Here are a few things you can do to prepare for your surgical removal of wisdom teeth:

Confirm the details of your appointment, including the date, time, and location.

If you have any medical conditions, make sure your oral surgeon is aware of them.

Follow instructions from your oral surgeon, such as avoiding certain medications or foods before the procedure.

  • Avoid consuming tobacco products or alcohol for at least 12 hours before the surgery.
  • Make sure you have someone to drive or accompany you home after the surgery, as you may feel groggy from the anesthesia.
  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes to your appointment.
  • Consider preparing soft foods before the procedure, as you may have difficulty eating solid foods immediately after the extraction.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to share them with your dental expert, ‌Dr. Parth Shah.

Wisdom tooth extraction – Procedure

Dr. Parth Shah employs the following steps for wisdom tooth extraction in Navi Mumbai:

Consultation: Dr. Shah will have an in-depth discussion with you to understand the reason for the extraction and to determine the best course of action.

X-rays: The oral specialist will take X-rays of your mouth to better view the wisdom teeth and surrounding bone.

Anesthesia: Before the extraction, you will be given local anesthesia to numb the area where the tooth will be removed. You may also be given sedation to help you relax.

Incision: If the wisdom tooth has partially erupted, Dr. Shah will make an incision in the gum tissue to expose the tooth.

Removing the tooth: The dental surgeon will gently rock the tooth back and forth to loosen it from the surrounding bone and tissue. The tooth may be removed in one piece or may need to be broken into smaller parts to make it easier to remove.

Closing the incision: If an incision is made in the gum tissue, it will be closed with stitches.

Wisdom tooth extraction for anxious patients & even extreme difficult cases can be performed under general anaesthesia (completely pain free procedure)

After wisdom teeth removal surgery

Immediately after wisdom teeth removal surgery, you will have a gauze pad placed over the extraction site to help stop the bleeding. You will be asked to bite down on the gauze pad for 30-45 minutes to help apply pressure to the site and help stop the bleeding.

It is usual for some bleeding to occur after the extraction, but if the bleeding is heavy or does not stop after applying pressure to the site for 45 minutes, you should contact your dentist.

Dental expert Dr. Parth Shah will also give instructions on how to care for the extraction site during recovery to manage any pain or discomfort.

It is essential to follow the instructions provided by the oral surgeon to ensure a smooth and successful recovery.

Wisdom tooth extraction – Recovery

The recovery from a wisdom tooth extraction can vary from person to person. Generally, you can expect to experience some swelling, discomfort, and possibly bruising for the first few days following the procedure.

  • Guidelines to promote a smooth recovery include:
  • Avoid strenuous activities
  • Do not use mouthwash that contains alcohol
  • Do not rinse your mouth forcefully
  • Do not brush the teeth next to the surgery site
  • Use a toothbrush with soft bristles
  • Take pain medication as prescribed to help manage any discomfort
  • Avoid smoking or alcohol for atleast 1 week from the date of surgery
  • Avoid consuming liquids through a straw for 24 to 48 hours

The highly- skilled dental surgeon, Dr. Parth Shah, explains, “Sucking on a straw can cause the blood clot at the extraction site to become dislodged. This will cause a condition called ‘dry socket,’ which can be quite painful and prolong the healing process.”

Please follow the after-care instructions carefully to help ensure the extraction site heals properly.

I dropped in from the UK to get some information on a couple of teeth that had cracked and some that were worn due to grinding.8 veneers, 2 crowns and 2 weeks later and I am glad I trusted Casa Dentique.Compared with UK dentists, apart from the obvious cost benefits, they spent a lot more time and effort and seemed genuinely interested in doing the best job possible. No waiting for a month to get an appointment either. It was more a case of when it suited me.I recommend this dental practice and I will be going back for a couple of implants as soon as I return to India.

I visited for my wife oral surgery in April month. Normally I don’t indulge myself in any such feedback process but this time I tend to involve me because of various reasons.A. In last 25 years I might have visited 8-10 different dentist/oral surgeon. I liked The process of examination which is supported with very personal touch during discussion and professional while doing surgery which was also supported with examples for rapid relief (post surgery).B. Also observed quick response even when were not in the clinic either on phone and on what’s app messages.C. My wife is little hesitant about taking hard dosages of medicine. It gave her high level of satisfaction when the whole treatment was done on 1-2 tablets.D. Over all cost of the treatment was also very economical.
